How much does it cost?

We will transmit your media release to your chosen categories in the Australian media for only $187. Get The Word Out can also write your press release for you, from scratch, for $330. A "polish and proofread" service is available for $75. Find out more about our writing services.

What subject categories can I choose?

We suggest you choose the "general news" category (national, state and regional newspapers + radio stations) and up to two specialist/trade categories. 3 categories are included in the distribution fee. Additional categories are available by arrangement (call us).

Display the full list of subject categories and numbers in each group.

Does your service broadcast to other countries?

No, our distribution is to Australian media outlets only.

When will my media release be sent?

If your news release is submitted prior to 3pm on a business day, it will be transmitted to the media on the same day. If the release is submitted between 3pm - 5pm then it will be sent by 10.30 am the next business day. If the release is submitted outside of business hours, it will be sent before the end of the next business day.

Can I ask for my media release to be sent on a particular day?

Yes. If you have a particular day or time that you would like you release transmitted, we can schedule this to send at any time of the day or night. Please call us to discuss your timing.

How will I know when my release has been sent?

A copy of your press release will be sent to you at the same time it is sent out to your selected media list.

Do you send news releases as attachments or email text?

News releases are sent as plain text in the body of the email, not as an attachment.

What formatting can I use in my email?

You cannot use any special formatting, bolding or colours. Emails are transmitted in "plain text" format only ( a requirement of the major newspapers).

To see what your release will look like as plain text, copy and paste it into "Notepad" or other plain text editor. Tidy up your paragraphs and line endings. Note that any tables you may have will not format properly in plain text. Bullet points and indenting will also be a problem. Tidy up your release in Notepad and copy it from there, straight into the text box on the submission form.

Can I send photos, logos or other attachments?

No. News releases are sent as plain text only and it is not possible to include attachments or images/logos etc.

If you have images that you wish to make available to the media, we suggest you post these on your website and refer to the web address where the image is to be found, as additional information within your media release.

Do you provide a list of contacts so I can follow up with the media?

No. Get The Word Out only provides a broadcast service. It does not follow up your release for you , nor can it provide a list of contacts for your own follow up.

How do I pay for my media release?

Get The Word Out accepts payment by credit card only. Credit card payment is processed by Paypal. Paypal accepts Visa and MasterCard or money transfers from other Paypal accounts. Paypal is one of the most trusted companies in the eCommerce world-wide today. All transactions are encrypted using 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) architecture (dependent on browser support), and are signed using digital certificates.

Get The Word Out never sees your credit card details. Your payment is processed securely and safely using Paypal's banking system. A tax invoice/receipt will be emailed to you when the credit card transaction is approved.

What currency do you accept payment in?

We only accept payment in Australian dollars.

In what circumstances could you reject my press release?

Your news release is reviewed by our staff to ensure it does not contain defamatory, slanderous, libellous or threatening content. News releases may be rejected for these reasons at the discretion of management. No refunds will be given in these circumstances.

The content of your release is also checked for suitability for your chosen subject categories. If inappropriate categories have been selected, we will contact you to discuss the matter and choose suitable alternatives. This process is likely to cause a delay to the sending of your release.

Can you guarantee that my media release will be published?

Get The Word Out cannot guarantee that your news release will be used by the media. So much depends on how newsworthy your information is and what other news is breaking in the time you send your release. For example if you send your news release the same day an election is declared or when there is serious a terrorist attack, you can expect little airplay. However, on quiet news days you may get significant exposure.

Our Guarantee.
If you get no media exposure from your press release we will send it again for you at no charge, on a day you request. Please be aware that many specialty and trade magazines have a long lead time, and publication of your release may take over a month from the time you send it.
