PRESS RELEASE: Samaritan’s Purse Providing Critical Relief After Deadly Flooding in Vietnam

Sydney, NSW, 10 November 2020 – Samaritan’s Purse is providing emergency relief to suffering Vietnamese communities after a month of heavy rainfall devastated the Quang Binh province. Torrential storms brought high winds, triggered landslides and flooded hundreds of acres of crops – impacting more than 1.5 million people and leaving farming families without their primary source of income.

As the region begins the recovery process and prepares to face two upcoming storms, Samaritan’s Purse is providing more than 1,000 displaced families with warm blankets, mosquito nets, kitchen supplies, and hygiene kits as they recover from the storms. The international relief organisation will equip its local office to meet the immediate needs of hurting families while providing aid for future storms.

“Samaritan’s Purse has been working with vulnerable communities in Vietnam for nearly 20 years. Our goal is to help alleviate the burden and bring hope to hurting families,” said Dan Stephens, Disaster Response Manager of Samaritan’s Purse Australia. “We hope these vital supplies will encourage families to get back on their feet during this time of crisis.”
