PRESS RELEASE: Adelaide Hills Twin fine Music festivals for 2021
Adelaide Hills Twin Fine Music Festivals for 2021
Adelaide Hills Chamber Players Inc is pleased to announce details of Adelaide Hills Summer & Winter Fine Music Festivals 2021
Core fine music programs will be presented at UKARIA in the Central Adelaide Hills and repeated in South Australia’s celebrated Southern Vales, Barossa Valley, Alexandrina and Limestone Coast winegrowing districts……..a convenient way of mixing the pleasures of fine music and fine wine with the sophisticated cuisine for which these regions are renowned.
These fine music Festivals will involve the participation of several of Australia’s most distinguished performers and ensemble leaders.
Sharon Grigoryan, until recently, cellist of the Australian String Quartet, will lead our chamber orchestra from the cello desk and play solos with strings by Fauré and Tchaikovsky.
Elizabeth Campbell, renowned Opera Australian mezzo, will sing the solo part in Schoenberg’s curious arrangement of Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen [Songs of a Wayfarer].
Jonathan Bligh, fresh from the best finishing schools in the UK and USA will conduct our new chamber choir a cappella and with orchestra in a wide-ranging selection of Romantic and Contemporary works.
And William Hennessy AM, Founder of the Australian String Quartet and Artistic Director of the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, will direct our strings from the Leader’s Desk in a program comprising Tchaikovsky’s irresistible Serenade and Bartok’s mighty Divertimento. These programs embrace the peaks of chamber orchestral/choral canon over the last 200 years.
To enrich the festival programs, Helen Ayres, Anna Goldsworthy, Elizabeth Campbell, Anthony Hunt, Josh van Konkelenberg, Mario Bellanova, Naomi Hede and many others will present intimate chamber recitals and small ensemble offerings.
The rich offerings of the Summer Festival will be linked under a common theme of The Spirit of Romanticism with all major European Nationalist Schools represented. Patrons will enjoy the kinds of pieces for solo instruments, solo voices, and chamber orchestra that has distinguished 19th Century European Romanticism as a movement, providing rich experiences of musical beauty, musical drama and sheer rhapsodic pleasure.
