PRESS RELEASE: Western Australia is the latest destination for blind and low-vision group tour operator Cocky Guides
Cocky Guides specialise in providing unique, multi-sensory group adventures for blind and low-vision travellers. Cocky Guides already present 60 destinations around Australia. Their launch into Western Australia means they now cover every State and Territory nationwide.
Cocky Guides Founder James (Buck) McFarlane says, “We are excited to launch our first tour in December, which has already sold out. Our travellers are excited to visit Western Australia and discover Perth and the South West with our uniquely curated itineraries that focus on our guests’ senses beyond sight”.
Cocky Guides is a social enterprise that connects communities and industry by providing group support to help blind and low-vision Australians travel without relying on family, friends or paid carers. Since its launch in 2018, Cocky Guides has returned over one million dollars to the Australian visitor economy.
Cocky Guides will spend eight days in Perth and Busselton from Saturday, 2 December 2023, to Saturday, 9 December 2023, with the first group of 12 blind and low-vision travellers. Local operators that are working with Cocky Guides to create an inclusive and engaging experience are Autopia Tours, Sealink Rottnest Island, Perth Wildlife Encounters, Koomal Dreaming, Yanchep Lavender Farm, the Lobster Shack and numerous artisan growers and producers around Margaret River.
