PRESS RELEASE: Veteran Turns Trauma Into Triumph with Powerful New Novel

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

From the Battlefield to the Book: Veteran and Author Anna Maria Lang Launches The Lioness Rising – a fiction love story of spies, love, sacrifice, faith and honour inspired by some true events.

Perth, WA – Few stories carry the weight of lived experience quite like that of Anna Maria Lang, a military veteran, survivor, and now the author of 27 books spanning themes of love, inspiration after loss, resilience, and transformation. Her latest release, The Lioness Rising, is not just another addition to her body of work, it is her most powerful and personal yet.

Set against the rarely explored backdrop of military life, The Lioness Rising weaves together a narrative of love, faith, sacrifice, and strength. But what makes this release particularly compelling is the story behind it.
Before becoming a published author and sought-after publishing coach, Anna Maria served in the Army, including deployment to East Timor. It was a chapter that shaped her discipline and perspective but it was what followed that would ultimately redefine her life.

Behind the strength was a private battle. Anna Maria had experienced in her life military sexual trauma, poverty, domestic violence, homelessness, and navigated significant mental health challenges, compounded by a near-death moment she describes as a profound turning point and one that sparked what she calls a “divine intervention” and ignited a creative awakening.

Writing became more than an outlet. It became a lifeline.
Across 27 books, Anna Maria has transformed her experiences into words, each one a step in her own healing, and an offering to others walking similar paths. Her work spans genres, but at its core is a consistent thread: the courage to confront pain, the willingness to heal, and the belief that something meaningful can emerge from even the darkest moments.

The Lioness Rising embodies that philosophy.
“This book is deeply personal,” Anna Maria said. “It represents not just where I’ve been, but what’s possible after. Healing isn’t linear but it is possible. And so is love.”

More than a novel, The Lioness Rising stands as a testament to resilience. It challenges the idea that trauma defines us, instead offering a narrative of reclamation of identity, of strength, and of the capacity to love again after hardship.

Now firmly established as both an author and mentor, Anna Maria also supports aspiring writers through her publishing coaching, helping others bring their own stories to life with clarity and confidence. Her work is particularly focused on empowering women to reconnect with their purpose, their voice, and their sense of self.
Her journey from the structure of military life, through personal adversity, to becoming a prolific author resonates far beyond the page. It speaks to a broader truth, that even in life’s most challenging chapters, there is the potential for reinvention.

With The Lioness Rising, Anna Maria Lang invites readers into that possibility.
“God has big plans for you and they are beyond your wildest imagination, in a realm where anything is possible,” she said.

As conversations around military sexual trauma, homelessness, poverty, domestic violence, mental health, and personal resilience continue to grow, Anna Maria’s voice offers something both rare and necessary, a perspective grounded in experience, and anchored in hope.

Anna Maria offers a sense of hope, resilience, empowerment and a deep appreciation for life and living one’s calling powerfully.
