PRESS RELEASE: Animal Justice Party Candidate and Derwent resident to run, swim and ride for the animals On Thursday 7January 2021

Ivan Davis, Animal Justice Party Candidate for the Division of Derwent in the upcoming Tasmanian Legislative Council Election will attempt an extended Ironman-style triathlon within the Derwent electorate he has named IRONMAN FOR THE ANIMALS.
Hoping to increase awareness of local animal issues and raise funds for his election campaign, Ivan is relatively new to Ironman events:
“The pain and discomfort I’ll experience on the day will be nothing compared to what many animals experience throughout their lives” Ivan said. “This event will give a voice to the suffering so many animals experience in industries such as puppy farming, ‘sport’ and recreation events such as greyhound racing, horse racing and rodeos, laboratory testing, shooting of native wildlife, and even in family violence situations”.
“My campaign kicks off in Derwent, but I’ll be visiting the entire region throughout the campaign period, talking to people and finding out what issues are of concern to them, particularly relating to animals and nature.”
People are encouraged to support Ivan by donating to his fundraiser (https://chuffed.org/project/animal-justice-party-tas-legislative-council-fundraiser-2021) and following the triathlon on Facebook, (@Ivan Davis Animal Justice Party Candidate for Derwent | Facebook) where regular updates will be posted during the grueling event. People can cheer Ivan wherever they can find him throughout the event, and they can phone him during the cycle and run leg on 0429 450 766.

The Animal Justice Party (AJP) is the only political party in Australia dedicated to protecting all animals. With three members of parliament, and two councillors now elected, the party is rapidly becoming a political powerhouse for animals. Our Victorian and New South Wales MPs are already taking huge steps forward for animals, holding the government to account, and introducing bills to end animal cruelty.
