PRESS RELEASE: Australian retail icon, HOBBYCO, celebrates 85 years of serious fun
SYDNEY, NSW, AUSTRALIA – NOVEMBER 6, 2020 – Australia’s largest family-owned hobby retailer, Hobbyco, is this month celebrating 85 years of bringing hobbies and toys to Australian families.
To celebrate its 85th anniversary, they are opening another store in Westfield Burwood and hosting their biggest online and in-store celebration sale yet.
With many Australian families having experienced periods in lockdown, there has been a revival of some good old fashioned family fun such as building jigsaw puzzles, card & board games, plastic model kits, model trains sets, slot cars, and radio control everything, highlighted by Hobbyco’s recent explosive growth in online sales.
As well as increasing their online presence, they have done what many others haven’t by looking to expand their retail store presence to ensure everyone gets to share the experience and joy of hobbies.
In addition to their iconic flagship store located in the beautiful Queen Victoria Building in Sydney, Hobbyco has stores in Rhodes Shopping Centre and Chatswood Chase. Their new Burwood store is due to open mid to late November, with a commitment to bringing old fashion hobbies and our favorite brands back into the community.
According to Hobbyco’s owner and Managing Director, Mike Wall (affectionately referred to as Big Mike), “the stores provide an immersive shopping experience where you can touch, feel and learn about the products and hobby techniques from our team of specialised in-store experts.”
“Hobbyco has and always will be committed to introducing new products and creating new passions for our customers, young and old. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to see the different generations coming through the store, and we are committed more than ever to keep the passion of hobbies alive,” said Mike.
