Australia’s Largest Meat Tray raffle raising funds to prevent suicide in the construction industry
Suicide Prevention charity MATES in Construction (MATES) is pleased to be the recipient of funds being raised by Spencer Constructions in their raffle titled “Australia’s Largest Meat Tray”.
Spencer Constructions, a Brisbane based Construction Company employing over 25 talented staff, who are passionate about building and creating beautiful spaces, is running Australia’s Largest Meat Tray, to raise funds for Mates In Construction. Mental Health awareness and suicide prevention is extremely important to Spencer Constructions with the team having held events and helped raise $40,000 for Mates in Construction over the last few years.
“Due to the current climate we couldn’t hold a large function and we know how much our team loves to win a meat tray down at the local pub, so we thought, why not hold an online raffle for Australia’s Largest Meat Tray”, said Ben from Spencer Constructions.
With three amazing prize packs that are valued at over $4,500, Australia’s Largest Meat Tray raffle opened on Tuesday 30th June and will be drawn on the following dates:

FRIDAY 17th JULY 2020 at 4pm – Draw Closes on Thursday 16th at 4pm
FRIDAY 24th JULY 2020 at 4pm – Draw Closes on Thursday 23rd at 4pm
FRIDAY 31st JULY 2020 at 4pm – Draw Closes on Thursday 30th at 4pm

MATES is an industry-based charity working to reduce the very high suicide rates amongst Queensland Construction workers. Each year more than 40 construction workers die by suicide in Queensland. MATES is a free support for employers and workers in the construction industry, training workers to spot colleagues experiencing poor mental health and connecting them to help. MATES operate a 24/7 support line and case managers to support workers connected to help. MATES also provide support business in establishing mentally healthier workplaces.

MATES Qld/NT CEO Jorgen Gullestrup said: “Construction workers already have a higher than average risk of suicide, but the ongoing COVID health and economic crisis is likely to hit the industry particularly hard.
