PRESS RELEASE: Clem Wheatley From Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Joins Federation Party Queensland Leadership

G’day Queenslanders, Clem Wheatley here;

I am the former Chairman of the Queensland Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party (SFFP), I say former, as I have recently resigned from the party.

The main reason for my departure was as a result of continual attacks and comments coming from other SFFP chapters, authoritative statements wrongfully blamed and targeted farmers, rather than defending them when they needed it most.

Regarding the discussions on the Ray Hadley Radio Show that the SFFP was possibly infiltrated by the greens, I can’t say one way or the other whether this is the case, what I can say is, the SFFP in their wrongful attacks on and in their blaming of farmers, they are using terminology very similar to that used by the greens to attack farmers and agriculture, especially in relation to irrigated agriculture.

I have a long and substantial association with farming and rural communities around Australia, therefore I am passionate about seeing a better deal for them because then we are all better off. I could no longer remain with a party that actively and wrongfully targeted various farmers, to the detriment of these farmers and many rural communities.

I am proud to announce that I have joined the Australian Federation Party and have also accepted the appointment as Assistant QLD State Coordinator. I am here to help provide a viable alternative, one that is truly here for the honest representation of the people and businesses in the wider community.

I am not a politician, on the contrary, I don’t like that many politicians have a problem telling the truth. They play popular politics, saying what they think will gain them the most support, even if, as is in most cases, their statements are not factual. I trust my previously practical experiences will help guide the AFP to become a true party for the people and I plan to stick with them to the end as long as they do.

I have a lifetime association with agriculture and the transport industry in various forms, vegetation, land and fire management as a former Ranger with Forestry, Former Group Captain and Training officer with the RFS, I have at different times worked in government departments, mainly involved in regulatory/legislative areas, I currently own and run a small rural earth-moving operation, these experiences have given me a very good grounding in rural issues, policy development, practical interpretation of laws and the workings of government.

This announcement follows on from Wednesday’s announcement that the former North Queensland Secretary of Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party, Jen Sackley also became an Assistant QLD State Coordinator.

Federation Party Queensland is now becoming a real contender to win seats in the upcoming Queensland election in October, as it will be the only Party in Queensland that is committed to endorsing candidates of character that are committed to listening to and representing the people of the communities in their electorate. They will vote only to represent the people.
