PRESS RELEASE: Getting Our Recovery On Track

Potter calls on the Prime Minister and Fiona Kotvojs to Commit to the Eden-Canberra Railway and Embrace a Nation Building Agenda

The Federal and State Governments of Australia have made an important strategic decision. That the building of new interconnected railways, and the re-building of old rail infrastructure is a high priority for the future regional development of Australia and the establishment of new supply chains for our cities.

The Inland Rail project that is currently being built requires important east-west links and connections to key intermodal sites and major logistical distribution centres for companies like Woolworths, Coles, Aldi and many more.

The Prime Minister recently announced $72 Billion to be brought forward to invest in important national infrastructure. The Eden-Canberra Rail Project is critically important infrastructure and the majority of people in the region have spoken. They want it to be built. The Federal Government must invest in this project NOW.

Jason Potter, the Australian Federation Party candidate was the first candidate to express public support for the rail project in this election. Jason sees the enormous benefit of this rail project because it can underpin the future growth and economic development of the region post the drought, bushfires and COVID 19. Here is the link to the project documents;

As noted in our earlier release, 9 of the 14 candidates in the Eden-Monaro by-election are coming together across political lines to support the most important transport project for the Eden-Monaro region and its people for over a century, when the rail project was first proposed by Charles Scrivener in 1905. Henry Parkes, in one of his last speeches as NSW Premier made a strong case for a rail link to open up the Port of Eden which would see Eden become a significant regional city hub.

“This project will underpin, sustainable jobs, tourism and transport to be provided to the whole region in an environmentally friendly way that provides opportunities for business that are desperately needed.” Jason said.

Jason went on to say this local project provides the opportunity to highlight other important Regional and National Rail infrastructure projects that until now the Federal and State Governments have ignored. Two of the proposed projects are the Cranbourne to Port Welshpool or Port Albert rail in Victoria and The Northern Australia Iron Boomerang Project.

The Iron Boomerang Project is the most significant National Rail and Steel Manufacturing Project that has been on the drawing board for years.

The Iron Boomerang Project is as important as the historic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Snowy Hydro Projects. These visionary Projects were both undertaken during recessions and post war recovery that underpinned the growth and financial prosperity of our nation as we came out of those recessions. Both infrastructure schemes are still paying great dividends today, as key national assets to the Australian public. Our people need Vision and HOPE Commitment from our elected government leaders!

“The Iron Boomerang Project has the potential to make Australia the 3rd or 4th largest Iron Producer in the world.” Jason said.

Jason is calling on Australians from all walks of life, to let the Federal Government, State Government, Labor, National and the Greens Parties know that the Iron Boomerang project must receive formal bi-partisan Government Support NOW, so it can proceed to completion. The project does not have a funding issue, it has a Government decisive commitment bureaucracy issue.

There are hundreds of thousands of jobs and Billions of dollars available to Australia once this project commences. To lead and anchor the competitive long-term planning commitment reindustrialisation of Australia.

We have included details of the Iron Boomerang project in attached documents as well as the link below to the Global Farmer Story of June 19 this year.

Jason Potter and the Australian Federation Party are committed to seeing Australia fight back from the triple whammy of drought, bushfires and the pandemic to once again succeed in Manufacturing with a high level of self-sustainability. This can be achieved through the commitment to significant Nation Building Projects that are environmentally sustainable, that repay debt for future generations and ensure sustainable jobs and financial security for the people, families and the nation of Australia.
