Two Sydney Brothers who ditched the rat race in the middle of a pandemic to start their own renewable energy company have done over $400,000.00 in sales in their first three months of trading.

David and Jonathan Green both left their careers in financial services to chase their dream of running a renewable energy company. Ever since the doors opened, they haven’t looked back.

‘With our last name we always thought we were made for this since birth’

After starting Teho a renewable energy company specialising in helping Australians make the switch to renewable energy, they never thought they would experience such uptake so quickly.

‘With financial support from the federal and state governments coupled with a growth in technology and people’s awareness of going green, options like residential solar systems are exploding.’

‘Consumers are getting more and more savvy when it comes to saving money and that is exactly what solar can do when done right.’

‘When you also get the great impact of helping reduce your carbon footprint at the same time, it just makes sense to make the switch’

The brothers had spoken for years about one day starting the business together but they thought what better time to start than in the middle of a global pandemic.

‘We definitely didn’t see it as an opportunistic time to start but we thought, why not?’

‘Everyone we spoke to said it was crazy to start a business in an ultra competitive space during a pandemic but we had already made up our mind’

It hasn’t been the smoothest of rides though.

‘Seeing someone’s home makes it a lot easier to quote accurately so that was very challenging given the restrictions that have been in place’

‘With the help of some new technology and our own internal Entech software we were able to transition to remote consultations’

With the federal government’s STC or Small-scale Technology Certificate (commonly known as the solar ‘rebate’) Australians can save around $3,400.00 on a standard 6.6kW solar system.

‘When rebates are thrown into the mix, things can get a bit wild. Look back at the insulation rebate and what happened there’

‘Working with the best people is something we focus on every single day.’

Renewable energy is exploding in Australia with over 2.5 million households already having rooftop solar.

‘Australian’s have done so well but there is a long way to go’

‘We want to continue helping people get more from our amazing natural resources and as long as the sun is shining, you can make clean, green solar power’

The brothers also launched the Teho Promise when they opened. Offsetting 1 tonne of carbon for every customer who buys with Teho.

‘We wanted to make sure whatever happens, we leave a positive impact.’

‘The Teho promise means that every customer knows that we will offset 1 tonne of carbon for every single customer every single time.’

‘With every purchase, our customers are contributing to the restoration of our Australian and New Zealand forests.’

For the year ahead, the brothers plan on growing and finding great people to join them on their renewable journey.

‘There is a long road in front of us but we are in a good place’

‘We are on the hunt for new people to join the organisation and grow with us’

‘People are the foundation of everything we do. We are hunting for great people who want to help others change the way they look at energy.’

‘Experience is important but we focus on attitude and effort.’
