PRESS RELEASE: Pawsitive Steps Towards Mental Health – Mind, Doggy and Spirit Festival

From earliest times, dogs have been beside humans, guarding our farms and homes, and have now become our close companions and even part of our families. In more recent times, we have watched how they understand our moods and give us comfort and affection when we are in need. We now know dogs play an important role in our mental health and wellbeing.

Positive Vibes Foundation’s aim is to break the stigma surrounding mental health and to raise its awareness in the community. And what better way to do this than with our four-legged friends!

PVF is proud to present Pawsitive Steps – Mind, Doggy and Spirit Festival, now in its sixth year, in partnership with Mind Connections that started it all, and as part of the Hills Shire Orange Blossom Festival. Pawsitive Steps will be held on Sunday the 29th of September at Castle Hill Showground.

Pawsitive Steps is a unique festival that brings together dog lovers, families, health and wellbeing enthusiasts. There will be a dog walk and dog show, talks and stalls, as well as plenty of food and activities for children.

According to the World Health Organization, mental health is “a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his
community.”

In 2019, Pawsitive Steps has worked closely with Windsor Road Private Clinic, a longtime supporter to bring you a new sharing program, Faces of Mental Health that celebrates wellbeing rather than Illness. Research shows that high levels of mental health are associated with increased learning, creativity and productivity, more prosocial behavior and positive social relationships, and with improved physical health and life expectancy.

Pawstives Steps will deliver this to the forefront of the Hills Community with exciting activities and lots of fun initiatives. Joins us on Sunday the 29th of September at Castle Hill Showground.

Why should you attend?
1. Enjoy a fun festival that offers a fantastic array of programs that connect dogs and mental health.
2. Bring your dog and raise awareness for a cause that needs serious attentions these days.
3. Dog Walk, Dog Show, Faces of Mental, Coco’s Shack, Healthy food corner, Kids activities and more
