PRESS RELEASE: Weekend bus services now connect Sydneysiders with the Royal National Park, just in time for the whale migration season!
Park Connections is a new tourist bus service ready to take families and friends to more places in the Royal National Park throughout winter. It’s the perfect time of the year to hike or spot whales in Australia’s oldest national park that covers over 150 square kilometres south of Sydney.
“Earlier this year we commenced our contract with NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to provide an alternative transport option to private motor vehicles. We believe that our Park Connections bus service will enhance the visitor experience by enabling easier access to more destinations throughout the park,” said Neil Geddes, Director of Park Connections.
“As COVID restrictions ease, we want to be ready to let Sydneysiders connect with nature and explore this world-class natural asset right on our doorstep. The whales have started their annual migration to Australia’s tropical north, and we want to make sure that locals can utilise the entire length of the 26 kilometre Coast Track to find a perfect vantage point without the crowds,” said Neil.
Every weekend and public holiday, Park Connections will run three round trips from Sutherland Train Station departing at 8.00 am, 11.00 am and 3.00 pm. Each departure will connect Sutherland to Audley Village, Bundeena, Wattamolla, Garie Beach and Garrawarra Farm. These stops provide multiple entry points to The Coast Track, with dozens of vantage points for whale watching, plus the track is home to famous landmarks like Wedding Cake Rock, Wattamolla Lagoon and Figure 8 Pools.
Outdoor adventure in the Royal National Park is now as easy as riding a train to Sutherland to join a Park Connections bus service. The Royal National Park is also home to the Audley Dance Hall and Café for coffee, brunch and lunch, Canoe and Kayak hire at Audley Boat Shed to explore Kangaroo Creek and some of Sydney’s favourite bushwalks and whale-watching spots.
Ticket prices include Royal National Park entry. Prices are $15 per person for an all-day pass or $9 per person for a single journey, designed for bushwalkers or travellers intending to ride the Bundeena Ferry service one way. A family day pass for up to four people is $38, and children under five are free.
