PRESS RELEASE: Nurses and midwives say bullying and harassment has to stop!

July 19th the first International Day of Action Against Bullying in Nursing and Midwifery.
This event is initiated by Nurses and Midwives Against Bullying Australian group in its first ever public campaign against bullying. Our group have lobbied many employer and employee groups for support but have been ignored. Many nurses and midwives are leaving the workforce crushed, broken and suicidal.
This day of action is to highlight nurses and midwives will no longer tolerate bad leadership and poor management in the workplace. Bullying and harassing behaviours must be eliminated and be better managed in the workplaces.
Members have reported physical and psychological abuse that has included bad rosters, gas lighting and being excluded. Bad leaders have enabled bullies and harassment practices to thrive in many workplaces.
Nurses and midwives can no longer provide safe effective care if they are being micro-managed, intimidated or bullied. These practices must stop now. Nurses and midwives need to stand up for our patients, our community, and other workers.

About Nurses and midwives against bullying

https://www.facebook.com/groups/2527227290869235 Nurses and midwives against bullying have been founded to provide support and guidance to many nurses and midwives who have been subjected to various forms of bullying and harassment within the workplace. Members have found employers and employee agencies have ignored this issue for too long, often subjecting the victim to managerial processes leading to more trauma. Many nurses and midwives are leaving an already stretched workforce or suiciding. Many are in financial ruin and many families are suffering the long term effects of bullying and harassment.
