PRESS RELEASE: Handley Surveys Awarded 3 Year BP Laser Scanning Contract

Perth, Western Australia 6th August 2019 – Handley Surveys is pleased to announce it has entered into an agreement with BP for a three year term supplying 3D Laser Scanning Services in Western Australia.
The contract will commence immediately, with the duration of 36 months. Under the agreement, Handley Surveys Pty Ltd will supply Technical Geospatial Services and Terrestrial Laser Scanning for the Brownfield maintenance and Greenfield expansion projects.
The contract award reinforces Handley Surveys as a leading provider of geospatial services in the oil and gas sector. Structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) and Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) contracts for BP, Woodside, BHP and RTIO awarded to Handley Surveys demonstrate how the level of satisfaction
Handley Surveys General Manager Alex Handley said the contract provided long-term stability to the company and was welcomed after such a long downturn in the sector.
“To have clients like BP recognise the value offered by utilising our scan data and modelling for “first-time-fit” engineering is fantastic. Digital reality capture done the right way, with technical skill, is the future”, said Alex Handley, General Manager.
Terrestrial laser scanning when combined with rigorous geospatial registration processes creates highly accurate 3D data, with speed and safety. The ability for this data to be modelled to create extremely accurate as-constructed Building Information Modelling (BIM) to facilitate modification and design have created an ever increasing demand for the Handley Surveys team.
The Terrestrial Laser Scanning market is estimated at around A$3.5b and continues to grow at around 8% per annum fueled by the Asia Pacific and Middle East Markets. Handley Surveys utilise all Australian resident personnel for both capture and data processing, setting them apart from many competitors who farm out CAD modelling and data processing to offshore hubs. The “Handley Way” of handcrafting data is becoming a new industry benchmark in the O&G sector.
From humble beginnings 42 years ago, it has developed a reputation for providing highly skilled professionals and innovative survey management systems to LNG projects throughout the world.
