PRESS RELEASE: COORDIKIDS TO DONATE ACCESS TO VIRTUAL PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAMS FOR HOME-BOUND KIDS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.
BRISBANE (Wednesday, April 8, 2020) – CoordiKids Childhood Development Programs today announced it would grant free access to their in-school, virtual pediatric occupational therapy program to parents while schools are closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The donation aims to support children facing sensory and motor challenges who would normally have access to traditional occupational therapy visits, physical education classes, and after-school sports, which are now closed due to quarantine and social distancing regulations.
“Our CoordiKindy and CoordiClass programs were designed by pediatric occupational therapists as digital tools for the classroom. They provide 5-15-minute follow-along videos for students to get much-needed motor, vestibular, and proprioceptive input during the academic day,” said Marga Grey, CEO of CoordiKids. “We found that teachers benefitted tremendously from including these movement breaks for all students, not just those facing learning or developmental challenges. Research and case studies have shown time and time again that all children benefit from movement breaks to break up periods of learning. The result of these therapeutic movements when used as part of a regular daily curriculum include increased attention span, less fidgeting, less clumsiness, and better emotional regulation.”
The free program donation includes the following:
• Parents can choose between the two school programs, CoordiKindy or CoordiClass, or receive access to both, depending on the age of their children. CoordiKindy is suited to preschool age children between 3 and 6 years, while CoordiClass is suited for school-aged children over 6 years old.
• Both programs include a brief teacher training for parents home-schooling their children during school closures.
• CoordiKindy has 30 different exercises and includes 4 development levels with videos of exercises that progress and develop skills. Children simply follow a video. Minimal equipment and parent support are needed. The retail value of this program is US$1,450.
• CoordiClass has 30 options for effective movement breaks of any age child (or adult!). Only 5-minutes of targeted exercises provide optimal attention. The child follows the video with no equipment and no preparation for the parent. The space necessary is the space next to a desk in the average classroom. The retail value of this program is US$2,150.
• Families will have access to these programs until the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
• Families can utilize the services of an allied health team at CoordiConsult to access support from qualified providers in the comfort of their homes.

“I’ve dedicated my life’s work to helping families around the world facing unique challenges. That’s why we are so excited to be able to share our programs with struggling families worldwide during this unprecedented time of school closures.”
