Adult toy sales soar in Australia
Australians are buying adult toys in record numbers according to online retailer Adulttoymegastore [www.adulttoymegastore.com.au]
Sales throughout the country are the highest they’ve ever been with New South Wales and Melbourne leading the pack in terms of quantity.
Adulttoymegastore owner and operator Nicola Relph says the number of sales in Australia is unpresented.
“We have never seen anything like this,” she says. “We opened in 2009 and nothing has come close to the sales we’ve had in Australia in the past three weeks. Australians are well and truly choosing to enjoy their lockdown with essential items like vibrators and lubricant.”
“It shows they’re staying home and they’re staying apart from their partners and they’re trying new things. We’ve seen beginner toys skyrocket in sales but also high-tech toys are selling really well too.”
It is possible New south Wales has the highest amount of sales because they have high cases of Covid-19 and might be spending far more time at home than other areas. The toys most popular there also includes adult board games that might pass the time.
In Tasmania, where there are tough social restrictions, board games were most popular.
A breakdown in states shows which toys are the most popular for each region.
New South Wales
Sydney is leading sales in New South Wales with the highest selling item being the Satisfyer Pro 2.0 clitoral stimulation toy. We would expect Newcastle and Lake Macquarie to be next in line due to population size but actually The Hunter Valley and then Coffs Harbour have the second and third highest toy sales. Byron Bay had the highest sales of luxury lubricant and glass toys.

Victoria
Melbourne understandably leads Victoria for sex toy sales, but it’s followed closely by Mildura and Ballarat. Geelong is fourth in sales followed by Bendigo.
The most popular toys differ from New South Wales with Self Care bundle for couples coming in at number one, and then the Lelo Nea 2 (a beautiful toy that works for all genders) coming in second. These two are followed by the Satisfyer Pro 2.0, Wet Stuff lubricant and the Satisfyer Partner Multi-Fun.
“It looks like in Victoria people are buying as couples. The top toys for Victoria are all couple toys which suggests lockdown isn’t a lonely activity there. The Lelo Nea 2 appeared only in Victoria which is interesting as it’s a toy designed for all genders.”
Queensland
In Queensland the number one is the Satisfyer Pro 2.0 just like in Western Australia. Interestingly the next most sold product is the Satisfyer Anal Beads pack which can be used by men and women. Cairns was number one for the Satisfyer Anal Beads but ultimately Brisbane buyers went for the Satisfyer Pro 2 which took it to number one. Sales were in order: Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and then Mackay. Top products were Satisfyer Pro 2.0, Satisfyer Anal Beads, Wet Stuff Lubricant, the Self Care bundle for couples, and the Bodywand Original Massager.
“Queensland was the only place that had an anal toy so close to the top seller. The Satisfyer Pro has been popular everywhere so it’s no surprise it beat out the anal beads this time. It was a very close race though. Couples toys were popular in Queensland with the bundle again being a great seller, especially in Townsville.
South Australia
In South Australia, the rates of sales followed population lines with Adelaide at number one for sales followed by Mount Gambier, and Gawler. The most popular product sold was the Original Bodywand followed, Wet Stuff Lubricant, the self-care bundle for couples, the Satisfyer Pro 2.0 and the Ansell Intense Feel condoms.
“It’s great to see South Australians are keeping safe by buying condoms but they’ll get to stay home and enjoy themselves with the Original Bodywand. It’s an interesting toy because it can be used on all genders and the lubricant and self-care bundles are great for couples. It looks like South Australians are staying in with their partners and keeping safe.”
Western Australia
Like Queensland the Satisfyer Pro 2.0 was number one, followed by the Ovo Love Balls (also for women), and the Amore Hummer G-spot Vibrator, Wet Stuff lubricant was next followed by the Women’s self-care bundle. Like New South Wales, the toys chosen by South Australians are generally designed for women. Perth, as expected, was number one for sales but interestingly the site had a lot of visits from Kalgoorlie. Mandurah came in second followed by Bunbury then Rockingham.
“We’re pleased the women of South Australia are buying toys that will keep them entertained during self-isolation. It’s great to see they’re getting a good pelvic floor workout with the Ovo balls too! No other areas had such high sales for kegal balls.”
Northern Territory
In the Northern Territory is was all about supplies with condoms and lubricant taking the number one and number two spot in all cities. Wet Stuff Gold lubricant was number one and then Ansell Intense Feel condoms followed by the Four Seasons Studds and Ribs condoms. Northern Territory was the only area of Australia where there were more male products sold than products for couples and women. Next on the list at four was the PDX masturbator for men and Palm Pal masturbator. Darwin had the majority of sales.
“The sales from Northern Territory are fascinating. Darwin had the most sales and all other regions within Northern Territory were much smaller. Masturbators were more popular in Northern Territory than anywhere else. The Satisfyer Pro 2.0 for women wasn’t even in the top five.”
Tasmania
It seems like in Tasmania couples might be bored because they’re buying board games! The Bondage Seduction game that features a blindfold and beginner flogger was the number one selling item in Tasmania, followed by the Satisfyer Pro 2.0, Wet Stuff Gold Lubricant, Bodywand Original Massager, and the Erotic Dice game.
“I’m not sure how many folks are staying at home in Tasmania but it looks like a lot based on our sales. The Bondage game and the dice game are heaps of fun for playing at home. Hobart was our top selling region followed by Launceston and Burnie.”
