PRESS RELEASE: THURSDAY 19 NOVEMBER 2020 Better Health for Men & Boys + Decorate Dad Challenge

Launched in 1999, and now celebrated in more than 80 countries worldwide, International Men’s Day is going from strength to strength. The theme for IMD 2020 is “Better Health for Men and Boys.”

Nathaniel Marsh from Dads4Kids who helps coordinate www.internationalmensday.com said, “Our mission this year is to help individuals, families, churches, communities, small business and corporates, including NGOs and Government work towards better health for men and boys.

We want to promote the need to value men and boys and help people make practical improvements in men and boy’s health and well-being. International Men’s Day encourages men to lead by example. Boys need positive male role models. Our broader community also needs positive male role models. The social Science research shows that when men as fathers aspire to better health their children do the same.” https://www.healthydadsandkids.com/the-research

Marsh continued, “For the first time, the ‘Decorate Dad Challenge’ has been issued to fathers all over the country by the harm prevention charity Dads4Kids for the month of November. The Decorate Dad Challenge is part of the campaign for better health for men and boys. Play Together – Stay Together’ is the motto behind a new idea that is quickly spreading through media and online throughout Australia.

In an age where people are becoming more isolated & mental health issues are on the rise, the answer starts with intentional playtime initiated by Dad & using digital trends in a positive way. The science behind family ‘playtime’ proves that there are huge benefits for both Dad & Kids, not only physically but mentally & socially as well.”

Marsh explained, “The concept behind the ‘Decorate Dad Challenge’ is simple; Dad posts a photo to social media after being ‘decorated’ by his kids, & then nominates 5 friends to do the same. Spreading positivity and joy whilst promoting healthy family relationships. Watch the video to get the idea. The Challenge also offers the option of charity fundraising to assist Dads4Kids in continuing to equip Dads everywhere, to be the best they can be, for their children.”

Dr Jerome Teelucksingh, founder of International Men’s Day, from Trinidad & Tobago said, ““International Men’s Day has the potential to become the global medium to heal our world. I and the team at International Mens Day encourage you to celebrate International Mens Day and to wish everyone you meet a happy International Men’s Day on Thursday the 19 November.”
