Technology changing the face of skin cancer detection.

State-of-the-art Microscope set to detect skin cancer early and reduce the need for invasive treatment.

Sydney, Australia-20 May 2021. The Skin Hospital is excited to announce the arrival of the confocal microscope – a rapid and reliable solution for the early detection and treatment of potentially life-threatening melanomas.

The confocal microscope uses a laser beam to take high-resolution images of a wide range of skin cancers, from melanoma to basal and squamous cell carcinoma.

Unlike any other detection device, the microscope works like an optical biopsy reaching several layers of the skin, helping diagnose hard to see melanoma and avoiding the need for traditional surgical biopsies.

Australia has one of the world’s highest rates of skin cancer, affecting thousands of Australians young and old.

Skin cancer survivor and brand ambassador for The Skin Hospital, Deborah Hutton says the new technology is a game-changer.

“This device will be instrumental in detecting skin cancers at their earliest stage and improving cosmetic outcomes for patients. Knowing that you are catching a skin cancer earlier and that you may avoid a biopsy relieves some of the anxiety associated with a skin cancer diagnosis.

It really is a genuine shock when being diagnosed with skin cancer. Knowing you are accessing the latest technology with the highest standard of treatment means you can feel at ease knowing you are in safe hands.” Deborah Hutton, Australian media personality.

The microscope, located at The Skin Hospital, Darlinghurst, provides patients easy access to the cutting-edge technology, which will alleviate waiting times and assist specialist dermatologists to save lives.

Ends.
