PRESS RELEASE: Small Grampians Winery wins Australia’s most prestigious wine award

Fallen Giants Vineyard in the Grampians region of Victoria has won Best Victorian Shiraz, the Trevor Mast Memorial Trophy for Best Australian Shiraz and the coveted Jimmy Watson memorial Trophy at the Melbourne Royal Wine Awards with the 2019 Fallen Giants Shiraz. The wine is 100% estate grown, organically farmed and comes off the Shiraz block which was planted in 1969.
Co Owner and Vigneron, Rebecca Drummond commented “We are truly humbled…as a small family wine producer, we would never have dreamt of this! We love our place and are blessed to have a beautiful old vineyard, so our aspiration has simply been to continue to improve how we farm, and hopefully further contribute to the fine wine reputation of the Grampians. Trevor Mast used to own the vineyard and did so much for the region, so to win his Memorial Trophy as well as the Jimmy Watson is incredible. Hopefully bringing the Jimmy Watson back to the Grampians, like Best’s did in 2012 and Seppelts in 1964…will throw some more light on the region as a wonderful cool climate Shiraz producer”.
