Nudo turns cancelled wedding around in 24 hours after original venue cancels due to Covid staff shortages

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA. 13 January, 2022.
Nudo, Melbourne’s leading wedding planning and venue company, hosts a last minute wedding after original venue cancels with only one day’s notice due to a Covid outbreak.

Engaged Gippsland couple, Jacklyn and Chris had been planning their wedding for more than a year, with Victorian lockdowns forcing the pair to postpone their October 29, 2021 celebration. When the state reopened in late 2021, they locked in their new date for January 6, 2022 and eagerly planned their nuptials, excited to share their day with family and friends.

With just one day to go, and visitors arriving from all over Victoria, Jacklyn was met with absolute despair when the venue contacted her to cancel the wedding due to a mass Covid outbreak involving all team members.

Jacklyn and Chris then had the dreaded task of advising all other vendors that the wedding would not be going ahead. Fortunately, this involved notifying Rich Will from Hey Jack who provides entertainment, photography and videography services to the wedding industry. Rich knew just the person who could make this wedding happen with only 24-hours notice.

Kim Brindell, Co-Founder and CXO at Nudo was just that person. “To know that we were one of the first calls Rich from Hey Jack made when he heard from heartbroken Chris and Jac meant so much! We recently pulled another Covid wedding together in under two weeks, but less than 24 hours was an entirely new test” said Kim.

It was a team effort, with Katie Clough and the crew from Fourside Events, staying up all night after receiving an urgent call from Kim to organise food and beverages for 80 guests. Every vendor tweaked their plans to accommodate the new venue at Gather & Tailor in West Melbourne, and pulled together a day that looked like it had been carefully curated over the course of a year.

Jacklyn was overjoyed, sharing her thoughts on the event, “we spent 12 months planning our original wedding and in all honesty, I don’t think it would have been as enjoyable as what the team at Nudo and Gather & Tailor (especially Kim) managed to pull together within 24 hours. We feel so lucky to have found the team we did, even if we took the long route to get there.”

With such a high number of postponements in the events industry due to the impact of Covid, Nudo is ecstatic to be able to facilitate complete wedding packages with quick turnaround times.
