PRESS RELEASE: FREE XMAS SHOP TO OPEN

News Release
15 December 2022

WHAT: FREE XMAS SHOP TO OPEN

WHERE: Ocean Shores Shops (20 minutes north of Byron Bay, NSW)
WHEN: Monday to Saturday: 19 – 24 December 2022. 9am – 6pm daily. WHO: Dennis (Santa) Stevenson
WHY: Dennis says, ‘Giving isn’t just the Fastest way to change ourselves and our world. It’s the only way!’ ‘We’ll all live like this one day. I’m just getting in early to avoid the rush’.

The organiser, Dennis Stevenson, opened his first (borrowed) free Christmas shop at Burleigh, Gold Coast in 2009 a week before Xmas, called it Spirit of Christmas and, with community help, gave out thousands of new presents.

This is his seventh Xmas in a row at Ocean Shores.

“Love is never conditional; so we have no conditions. Everyone is truly welcome to take things. I have no money to speak of but when you do what you love, things fall into place. We help thousands of people who are homeless, flood victims, or who need a hand to make sure they can get presents for their kids and others.

“We’ll give thousands of brand new presents away during the 6 days – to help see no one goes without this Christmas.”

Always, everything is free; everyone is welcome; and everything is NEW.

HOW PEOPLE CAN HELP: Search your cupboards, rooms, drawers, garage etc. Collect the dozens of brand new, unused ‘gifts’ we forget we have. Get them to me. If far away. Do the same and donate them locally.

This year we borrowed a Church Hall cnr. Rajah Rd and Bindaree Crt next to K-Hub.

Dennis asks, “Can you think of a better way to have a Merry Christmas than by helping others have one?”

Dennis delights in helping people, without limitation or charge. Dennis says "Love is never conditional. We'll all live like this one day. I'm just getting in early to avoid the rush smile". 14 years ago (2008) Dennis opened his leased Brisbane house in Queensland and gave everything away. You may have seen it on TV 9's 'Today Show' with Lisa and Karl. Dennis said, "That was an amazing time. You could feel the love in the house." Dennis uses his life to serve people, never charging anyone. He says, "If you need a hand, I've got two."
