PRESS RELEASE: Non-Profit Organisation Launched as Trusted Advisor in Best Practices for Customer Data Technologies, Integrity, and Privacy Compliance

The CUSTOMER DATA INSTITUTE PTY LTD (CDI) has officially launched as a non-profit Australian-based organisation, with membership now open to all corporations and individuals. The Institute’s objective is to help businesses to achieve customer data excellence and profitable centricity in today’s challenging compliance environment.

CDI’s mission is to provide members with access to international best practices and thought leadership on collecting, managing, protecting, and using customers’ personal information, paired with advice on how to implement them through customer data technologies, high data integrity, and privacy compliance.

“Like bullying and harassment, customer data abuse is all too common in corporate Australia. Yet all damage peoples’ lives; with stress, angst, feelings of insecurity, betrayal, and invasion. Business leaders need to move beyond reluctantly reacting to privacy laws. Instead, they must ardently transition to proactively and transparently managing their customer data, treating it as a precious corporate asset, the most critical element of positive customer experience; customer trust.” – Graeme Jeffrey Boorer, Advisory Board Chair.

Combined with existing deep industry expertise, CDI leverages affiliations with global knowledge centres like ‘Customer Data Platform Institute (CDPI), gaining exhaustive resourcing in customer data technologies, solutions, support, training, and skills, to provide localised applications. The CDI Advisory Board governance and conflict of interest disciplines ensures it acts as a neutral, independent, and trusted advisor, considering without bias the customer data tenets of marketing, security, compliance, and technology.

The Institutes’ “think tank” is headed by Advisory Board Chairman, Graeme Boorer, a customer data industry veteran with over 40 years of experience across APAC and the USA, and Chief Executive Karin Kalda, who brings over 20 years of experience in customer data strategy and transformations globally. The Institute’s 22 Advisory Board Members have extensive experience in data transformation, cybersecurity, governance, legal, compliance and regulatory areas across public and private sectors, including specialist consulting firms, financial services, media, service providers, technology, and corporate and medium enterprise. All Board Members are bound by terms of reference and conflict of interest standards that ensure CDI’s policies are neutral, independent, unbiased, and peer-reviewed before being endorsed.
“Even the largest corporations struggle to achieve high standards of customer data practice integrity. Finding expertise, qualified personnel, unbiased independent advice, and proven approaches is a nightmare. Corporations spend millions on consultants but lack commitment, focus and determination, which frustrates even the most passionate executives. As Customer Data Institute’s Chief Executive, I aim to make it easy for business leaders to transition to customer data excellence” – Karin Kalda, Chief Executive and Advisory Board Member.

Corporate Membership offers a wide variety of benefits, including access to all resources, data governance templates, eLearning courses, with deep discounts to other courses, and regular Executive Breakfast Briefings. Corporate Members can also take advantage of online access to selected Advisory Board Members for their subject matter expertise to gain direction and advice on customer data initiatives. Most Corporate Membership benefits are available to all registered staff within an organisation. The launch of CDI includes PROBITY, the Institute’s Official Journal, which is distributed 10 times per year and is included with all Corporate and free individual Associate Memberships.

Annual Corporate Membership costs $2,000 + GST (or $199 + GST month-to-month, cancel anytime) and provides over $10,000 in member entitlements per employee. Corporate membership entitles all personnel in the company to unlimited access to most benefits at no charge. In addition, at launch CDI is offering entities who purchase an annual or monthly Corporate Membership an additional two months of free membership entitlements (excluding breakfasts).
