New Building Technology Set To Revolutionise Australian Sporting Landscape

Research suggests, that on average, outdoor sporting venues can lose up to 45% of days each year due to poor weather conditions.

The above statement comes from Todd Bowden, director of SportPM, a company whose mission is to bring communities together through sport.

“There are many issues with outdoor sports being held in Australia. We’ve seen it at the highest levels of Aussie sport and it spreads all the way down through social and children’s sports”, says Mr. Bowden.

“While Australians love to get outside and participate in sports, washouts, and extreme heat often cause major disruptions. And the cost of bringing these sporting facilities indoors is cost prohibitive”.

Inclement weather also causes a loss of revenue, making it even harder for these sporting businesses to stay profitable.

Thanks to a new air-supported dome technology, almost all outdoor sporting venues can repurpose their facility so they’re indoors and climate controlled.

Some facts about air-supported domes:
● Cost about a third of traditional brick-and-mortar infrastructure
● Can be erected more quickly than normal infrastructure
● Adapted easily to existing infrastructure
● Fully climate-controlled environments
● Ideal for almost all traditional sports (tennis, basketball, football, etc)
● Works perfectly for non-traditional sports (but fast-growing) like pickleball, mini golf, POP Tennis, and 3 x 3 basketball
● Easily repurposed to hold special events and functions
● Can be deconstructed and moved to another site if needed
● Constructed to withstand the harsh Australian climate (25+ year lifespan)

Todd Bowden is the founder and director of SportPM, an organisation that is helping bring the magic of indoor sports to all Australians. Todd first installed an Air inflated sports dome in the 1990s in New York. He can be contacted on the details below and provides an interesting and entertaining interview.
