Adelaide, Australia – MAC Trade Services and its CEO, Merrily Hunter, have received four awards for their groundbreaking contributions to the energy sector and innovation in engineering. MAC Trade Services was recognised in the Environment Energy category at the 2024 Premier’s Awards in Energy and Mining for their work on the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and contribution to South Australia’s energy transition. Just a day later, Merrily Hunter herself was celebrated as the recipient of the Women in Innovation Engineering Award, cementing her status as a leader in sustainable and transformative solutions. This is off the back of the two prestigious South Australian Telstra best of Business awards MAC Trade Services won in September for Embracing Innovation and Promoting Sustainability.
These awards highlight the critical work being done by MAC Trade Services in reshaping South Australia’s energy landscape. Under Merrily’s leadership, the company has spearheaded projects that not only improve energy efficiency for homes but also reduce environmental impact—transforming the way communities and businesses approach energy sustainability.

At MAC Trade Services, we understood the critical role of empowering and incentivising customers to connect their batteries to a VPP. That is why we partnered with VPP retailers to create the first ‘self-service’ incentive platform. I am incredibly proud of our innovative team and the collective efforts of our partners in developing these tools that are shaping the future of energy.
