PRESS RELEASE: Green Light at GDM’s Challenger Gold Mine

Great Divide Mining Ltd (ASX:GDM) is pleased to announce that it has now met the required standards set by regulatory authorities to enable operations to commence at the Challenger Mine in Adelong, NSW.

Following site inspections, repair, maintenance and upgrading through-out the entire site, the Challenger Mine is considered suitable for the safe commencement and operation of processing activities.

GDM can commence commissioning to restart the Challenger process plant immediately.

Operations to produce First Gold will commence this month.

“This is another big step in GDM’s journey to evolve from a gold explorer to an explorer and producer. The production of gold from the Challenger mine is not only historically significant Adelong, but will deliver to GDM its’ first revenue stream,” said Chief Executive Officer, Justin Haines.

“I’m delighted at the support we’ve received from the Adelong and surrounding communities,” he said ,”This has been a whole of community Team effort, to bring employment back to Adelong, and do it in an environmentally and socially sensitive manner.”

“This is about the local sparky, the local petrol station, the local earth moving contractors, the hydraulics specialists,” he said,

“Critical contributors to the re-commissioning effort have also been forthcoming from the Gold Rush Café and thanks to the Adelong Services and Citizens Club,” smiles Justin.

“I’m even more delighted that we’ll be able to re-start processing without the need for any toxic chemicals on site,” continues Haines, “we’ll be extracting gold using nothing more that clean recycled water.”

“We’re re-doing the mining plan for the entire site in the coming months as well,” said Haines, “we’re aiming to avoid the need for a 50-metre high pile of overburden right on the edge of town either.”

“GDM will continue to improve the plant and other operating areas of the Challenger site under the oversight of, and meeting the standards of the various stakeholders,” said Haines, “GDM aims to be a valued member of the Adelong community for the next 100 years of Adelong and Challenger’s history.
