PRESS RELEASE: The Magnetic Movement: Pulling Health and Sport Together

Every four minutes, someone in Australia is hospitalised with a head injury — many of them caused by sport. In 2023–24, over 62,100 sports-related hospital admissions were recorded, with teenagers among the most affected*.

In response, Dr Glenn & Partners Kogarah is proud to launch The Magnetic Movement — a bold, community-first campaign powered by a brand-new 3T MRI machine and a renewed commitment to early injury detection and safer sport from the grassroots up.

This movement aligns with the recent Medicare deregulation of MRI units, a change that has finally opened the door to more equitable access to advanced diagnostic services. With their new MRI unit now fully licensed, Dr Glenn & Partners is helping improve access to care for patients across the Kogarah region — particularly where early specialist referral is crucial. Leading the way in accessible imaging, Dr Glenn & Partners is bulk billing all eligible MRI referrals, at a time when many private providers in the region continue to charge gap fees over and above the Medicare rebate.

It’s a movement that brings together Radiologists, Specialist Doctors, Sports Physicians, Coaches, and Policymakers to raise awareness of head, knee, and musculoskeletal injuries — long before they become lifelong issues.
