OVERWHELMING RESPONSE TO AWMA SOUND NSW WOMEN’S MUSIC DELEGATE PROGRAM

Australian Women in Music is the only national organisation solely dedicated to achieving gender equality across the music industry. Established in 2018 by acclaimed music producer Vicki Gordon, the Australian Women in Music Awards & Conference (AWMA) has become a catalyst for cultural change, delivering high-impact National programs while mobilising support across the sector to ensure First Nations, multicultural, female and gender-diverse artists and music practitioners are visible, recognised and represented.

The Australian Women in Music Delegates Program is a dynamic initiative designed to amplify the voices of artists and music practitioners who live and work outside major metropolitan areas.

Successful delegates are supported with travel, accommodation and daily allowances enabling them to fully participate in the rich two-day annual Awards & Conference Program. This immersive experience offers participants unparalleled opportunities to connect, learn and be inspired with powerful insights and real-world perspectives across the music industry in a safe and supportive environment.

The AWMA Program includes unique networking opportunities designed to foster meaningful connections with peers, industry leaders and potential collaborators. In addition, delegates are invited to walk the Black Carpet and attend the prestigious Awards Ceremony & Concert celebrating the outstanding achievements of First Nations, female and gender-diverse artists and music practitioners across all areas of industry and all genres of music.
The two day event concludes with the much anticipated After Party, another invaluable opportunity to celebrate and connect with the broader music community.

In 2025, the Program was expanded to include New South Wales delegates, thanks to the generous support of the NSW Government through Sound NSW.

“We have been overwhelmed by the enormous response from artists and music practitioners from every state wanting to attend AWMA this year and as a result we are hoping to open up the Program nationally in 2026”, said Founding Executive Producer Vicki Gordon.

45 applications were received with twelve delegates chosen as part of Sound NSW Women’s Music Delegates program.

“We’re so proud to be supporting this program, which shines a light on the incredible women and gender-diverse talent making music across New South Wales. The response has been inspiring, showing just how much creativity and ambition exists outside the major cities. Programs like this give those artists the chance to be seen, celebrated and meaningfully connected to the wider music community. By backing the AWMA Delegates Program, we’re helping to build a more inclusive, supportive and exciting future for music,” said Emily Collins, Head of Sound NSW.
