PRESS RELEASE: $2 Million in Gold Coins Up for Grabs at Roxbury’s Final Major Sale of 2025

The numismatic community is gearing up for a monumental three-day event as Roxbury’s Auction No. 150 – Signature Sale opens for bidding from Wednesday 22 to Friday 24 October.

This landmark auction marks the final major sale of the year, featuring over 2,900 lots of rare coins, banknotes, and collectables – including an extraordinary $2 million worth of gold coins totalling more than 5 kilograms of gold.

Among the major drawcards are The Barry Dodds Collection of Important English Coins and The Moyle Collection of New Zealand Banknotes, both offering pieces seldom encountered at public auction. Together, they represent decades of dedicated collecting and scholarship across two historically significant areas of the market.

A Showcase of Global and Australian Rarity

Auction 150 brings together an outstanding cross-section of numismatic material, from early English and colonial coinage to Australian gold issues, world coins, and notable banknotes. Highlights include:

• 1914 Collins/Allen Twenty Pound Banknote – one of just two known specimen examples recorded
• 1947 Proof Florin, PCGS PR63 (Ex Remick Collection) – the only known privately held proof example
• 1658/7 Oliver Cromwell Crown – a historic piece from Britain’s Commonwealth era
• 1847 Gothic Crown – one of the most beautifully engraved coins of the Victorian age
• 2024 ACR Gold Swan – modern Australian gold at its most striking

Plus hundreds of sovereigns, proof sets, star notes, and rarities across every collecting field.

A Golden Finish to 2025

“With gold prices continuing to rise and collector interest at record levels, this auction is already drawing strong attention,” said Scott Waterman, Director of Roxbury’s.
“Between the Barry Dodds English coins, the Moyle New Zealand notes, and over $2 million in gold, Auction 150 is the perfect finale to an exceptional year of numismatic sales.”
