PRESS RELEASE: Launch of the Australian Head of State Movement

The Australian Head of State Movement will drive the replacement of a foreign monarch as Australia’s Head of State.

For Australians to choose their own Head of State, it is necessary to change the Constitution and the optimal way to do so is to establish the Governor-General as Australia’s Head of State. Extensive research and consultation have determined this is the optimal approach for appointing Australia’s future Heads of State. This will be achieved through a referendum on the question – “To alter the Constitution to establish the Governor General as Australia’s Head of State”.

Forty years ago today, we stopped allowing the United Kingdom Parliament passing laws controlling Australians. Today, Tuesday 3rd March 2026, we commence the process to stop a foreign King from interfering in any of our future laws. Today is the public launch of the Australian Head of State Movement.

The Australian Head of State Movement will
• Increase awareness of the issue and the solution
• Obtain proof of support using a database of contacts and supporters
• When sufficient support is obvious, arrange a Petition to present to the Australian Parliament
• Assist in the YES campaign.

The Australian Head of State Movement has no affiliation with any political party. It has no direct or indirect connection to any political party. It has no major donor. It is a body established solely to advance Australia’s transition to complete democracy. The entity is a private company (Australian Head of State Movement Pty Ltd). The current totality of the movement is the idea and a few hundred dollars!

The Movement is not about changing people’s opinions. It is simply providing the facility for people to express their current beliefs and have their desires implemented.

Reason, logic, and belief are the Movement’s greatest assets. Groundswell support is vital to establish the momentum. The idea is very important and so its popularity will overcome the obstacles. It will facilitate the installation of the Australian Governor-General as Australia’s Head of State.
