PRESS RELEASE: Creative Science for Kids podcast celebrates National Science Week

The Creative Science for Kids podcast is releasing a special episode for National Science Week 2026 to inspire science-curious kids (and their adults).

Seeds of science – National Science Week will be released on Friday 14 August 2026, the day before the start of National Science Week (15-23 August 2026). The episode includes six scientists sharing what sowed the seed of their interest in science, an interview with Associate Professor Corey Tutt OAM about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Science Day, and a hands-on slimy seed activity for families to try at home.

“National Science Week is a perfect opportunity to showcase Australian science and to celebrate the incredible science in the traditional knowledge of First Nations Peoples,” said podcast host and producer, Jenny Lynch. “We hope this episode will encourage families to get involved in National Science Week events, to talk about science together, and to try some hands-on science activities.”

The National Science Week episode highlights Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Science Day, celebrating the past, present and future of Indigenous science, through an interview with Associate Professor Corey Tutt OAM (Kamilaroi), founder and CEO of Deadly Science.

For over 3 years, the Creative Science for Kids podcast has been inspiring young listeners with engaging, age-appropriate episodes that explore fast facts, interviews with Australian scientists, and simple science activities to try at home. The podcast is presented by Jenny Lynch, an experienced Science Communicator and science show presenter, and her co-host, Junior Science Communicator and school student, Matilda.

First held in 1997, National Science Week has become one of Australia’s largest festivals. Last year, 3 million people participated in more than 2,500 events across Australia.
