# SolarCloud secures AU$3.7 million in new remote-solar capacity as demand grows from Australians without suitable rooftops
**The new allocation will expand access to solar ownership for renters, apartment residents and Australians unable to install conventional rooftop panels.**
**SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA —** Australian cloud-based solar platform SolarCloud has secured a new allocation of remote-solar capacity valued at AU$3.7 million as demand grows from Australians excluded from conventional rooftop solar.
The additional capacity follows the sell-out of earlier SolarCloud allocations and will make more remote solar available to renters, apartment residents and households affected by unsuitable roofs, shade, heritage restrictions or limited rooftop space.
“Demand is showing us that Australians want solar ownership, but many simply cannot install panels where they live,” SolarCloud CEO and founder John Kennedy said.
“They are not rejecting solar. They have been excluded by their property, their roof or their living arrangements. We secured this additional capacity so more Australians can participate.”
Through SolarCloud, customers own real solar hosted and maintained on commercial rooftop sites in premium sunlight locations around the world—not solar farms. The electricity generated is converted into cash value and delivered as quarterly AU$ credits.
Credits can be applied to an account with any Australian electricity or gas retailer or transferred to a nominated bank account. Customers do not require rooftop panels, a physical home battery, a subscription or a change of energy retailer.
“We moved solar to the cloud—not the ownership or its benefits,” Mr Kennedy said.
“Customers can rent, live in an apartment, move home or change energy retailer and continue owning their solar.”

SolarCloud professionally hosts, monitors, maintains and insures the remote solar. Ownership is portable and can move with the customer when they relocate or change energy retailer.
Customers across Australia—including renters and apartment residents—are already receiving quarterly SolarCloud credits through a range of Australian energy retailers.
“Solar should not be restricted to people with money or those fortunate enough to own a solar-friendly roof,” Mr Kennedy said.
“This new capacity allows us to continue working towards renewable-energy ownership that is available to Australians wherever they live.”
