PRESS RELEASE: When Albury singer-songwriter Toby Mobbs books a national tour, he really means it

Toby Mobbs will be on the road for another national tour this October to promote his newly released third album ‘Stranger That I Know’. What makes his tours unique is that he jumps in his 2004 Mazda 3 hatch, drives 14,000km solo over 28 days and plays a ticketed show in every state and territory, no exceptions.

“If I call it a national tour, then I can’t skip half the country. As an independent artist it isn’t an easy undertaking, but once I set myself the goal, it needs to be completed.”

This tour will feature local original support acts for each show, a keys player on select shows, and end with Toby being backed by a chamber orchestra for his hometown show in Albury-Wodonga to close the journey. This kind of touring isn’t new to Toby. In 2024 and 2022 he made the same journey over the same 28 days to play a show in every state and territory.

All this travel is to promote his latest album release. ‘Stranger That I Know’ holds a familiar sound from what you’ve come to expect from his releases while maintaining many surprises. A diverse genre packed collection in 8 songs without any of them feeling out of place.

“This is the third of a 4-album, 10-year project. Each album has been accompanied by both a national tour, and a themed regional tour. There’s a lot of continuity and symmetry happening, but at the same time I’m always aiming for these releases to be surprising each time.”
