PRESS RELEASE: DOREX WEEKLY GOLD MARKET UPDATE – w/e 09.10.26: Gold Recovers as Investors Reassess Interest Rate Expectations

Week in Review (Gold Price – USD/oz)

• High: $ 4,212.90
• Low: $ 4,091.20
• Av.: $ 4,178.50
• Close: $ 4,212.82

Gold recovered strongly during the week ending 9 October 2026, closing at USD 4,212.82 per troy ounce, just below its weekly high of USD 4,212.90.

The recovery followed a period of price volatility as investors reassessed the outlook for US interest rates, Treasury yields and the direction of the US dollar.

Rising US Treasury yields presented a challenge for gold during the week, increasing the relative attractiveness of interest-bearing investments. At the same time, uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve’s future monetary policy direction contributed to volatility across financial markets.”

Despite these pressures, gold attracted renewed buying interest late in the week, suggesting that underlying investment demand remains resilient.

Investment Fundamentals Remain Supportive.

The week’s trading highlighted the competing influences currently shaping the international gold market. While higher interest rates and a stronger US dollar can create short-term price pressures, geopolitical uncertainty, sovereign debt concerns and the continuing appeal of tangible assets remain important considerations for longer-term investors.

For Dorex, the significance of the week’s recovery lies not simply in the closing price, but in gold’s demonstrated ability to attract investment demand despite an unfavourable monetary environment.

Dorex Chief Executive Officer John Kochanski said the week’s trading reinforced the importance of distinguishing between short-term market movements and longer-term investment fundamentals.

“Gold’s recovery towards the end of the week demonstrates that investors continue to recognise its strategic value, even when interest rate expectations and currency movements create short-term volatility.”

Outlook

Attention will remain focused on forthcoming US economic data, Federal Reserve commentary and movements in Treasury yields, all of which are likely to influence gold prices in the near term.

However, the broader investment case for gold continues to extend beyond immediate monetary policy considerations.

“Gold has always served a purpose beyond short-term price appreciation,” Mr Kochanski said.

“Its’ enduring value lies in providing investors with a tangible, internationally recognised, liquid asset that can contribute to the preservation and diversification of wealth.”
