PRESS RELEASE: Frontline Update: Dr. Sambridhi Details Flood Devastation in Nepal Ahead of Upcoming Documentary Pre-Screening

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — 3 November, 2026 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – As Dr. Sambridhi Adhikari continues her urgent medical relief mission in disaster-stricken Nepal, the profound human cost of the recent catastrophic flash floods is coming into sharp focus. Scheduled to return to Australia on November 8, Dr. Sambridhi is actively delivering frontline care while encountering the deep psychological and emotional toll the disaster has exacted on isolated communities.

During her outreach, Dr. Sambridhi connected with a mother of two young boys whose husband was swept away by the floodwaters. With his body unrecovered, the family remains suspended in grief and uncertainty. While the mother has taken a job at her children’s school to find structure, she struggles with the overwhelming reality, heartbreakingly telling her children that their father is working overseas and will return with gifts. Her story illustrates that these natural disasters claim more than just lives and infrastructure—they strip away identity, purpose, and a family’s certainty about the future.

The global community continues to stand behind this vital work, with supporters contributing to her efforts at give.missionnepal.net. These donations directly assist families beyond the immediate crisis by providing professional counseling and ongoing psychosocial support. To ensure sustained, culturally sensitive care, Mission Nepal is working on the ground with trusted local organizations, including the Asal Chimmekee Network (ACN), International Nepal Fellowship (INF), and the Bethesda International and Language Development Centre.

To highlight these real-life stories of community resilience, grief, and faith in action, a special pre-screening of The Mission Nepal Documentary will be held on December 5 at The Summit Club: Nepali and Indian Food, running from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The event will offer an intimate look at the raw field footage from Dr. Sambridhi’s deployment.

Tickets for the exclusive pre-screening event can be purchased now at events.missionnepal.net.
