PRESS RELEASE: Oban launches Córas: a new generation of superannuation administration system designed for change

Scale-tested beyond 5 million members, Córas gives super funds the option to own their core administration platform and underlying codebase

Melbourne, 4 November 2026 – Oban has launched Córas, a next-generation superannuation administration platform designed to help funds reduce technology risk, respond faster to change and regain control of the systems that support their members.

The launch comes at a time of unprecedented change for the superannuation industry. New requirements such as Payday Super, increasing member expectations and growing regulatory demands are placing significant pressure on funds to modernise ageing administration systems while managing cost and risk.
Córas has been built specifically to help funds meet these challenges. Designed to support large-scale operations, the platform is capable of processing contributions throughout the business day and has been tested to support more than 5 million members. Direct connectivity with industry and government services helps simplify operations and reduce reliance on third-party providers.

Unlike many administration platforms, Córas gives funds the option to own their core technology, including the codebase. This provides greater control over future development, reduces vendor dependence and enables funds to determine their own technology roadmap.

Built on decades of superannuation administration system design and implementation experience, Córas combines proven industry knowledge with modern software engineering practices and AI-assisted development techniques. The result is a platform designed to accelerate innovation while reducing implementation risk.
The platform includes automated data migration, automated testing and a comprehensive simulation environment that allows funds to validate end-to-end business operations before implementation. This helps reduce project risk, improve quality and lower the cost of system replacement initiatives.
Córas is supported by a strong compliance and security foundation, including ISO 27001 certification and a range of industry and government accreditations that support secure and reliable operation in highly regulated environments.

Managing Director Brett Christie said:
“For too long, superannuation funds have faced a choice between living with ageing systems or accepting the cost, disruption and risk of large-scale replacement projects. Córas changes that equation. It provides a modern platform that gives funds greater flexibility, greater control and a stronger foundation for the future.”

Director Rory Wainer said:
“Funds may choose to outsource services, but they should never have to surrender control of the technology that underpins their business. We believe the future belongs to organisations that own their strategic assets and can adapt quickly as their needs evolve. Córas has been designed with that philosophy at its core.”
