NDIS SPECIALIST DISABILITY ACCOMMODATION – FEDERAL MINISTER KEVIN ANDREWS BREAKS GROUND ON NEW DISABILITY HOUSING PROJECT

Choice Housing is welcoming The Hon Kevin Andrews, Manningham Mayor Andrew Conlon and State Manager – Victoria of National Disability Services David Moody who will help to break the ground at our Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) development at 23 Hanke Rd, Doncaster, at 11.00am on Friday 14th September, 2018.
Every tier of government will be represented at this ground breaking acknowledging the vital importance of such developments.
NDIS SDA is a very specific area of disability accommodation, offering specialist homes for people living with very high needs and who cannot access mainstream housing options due to their disabilities. NDIS SDA aims to provide 28,000 participants across Australia with housing funding, 12,000 participants will need access to new affordable and suitable housing for the first time.
In Victoria 2,941 participants will be looking for new SDA accommodation.
Choice Housing is currently developing a number projects in Melbourne. State of the art and architecturally designed, these projects help to ease the shortage of Specialist Disability Accommodation. The ‘Hanke on Tram’ development is the next to break ground.
With so much uncertainty surrounding the NDIS, access to this type of accommodation helps to ensure the viability of the scheme especially relating to new SDA housing opportunities for eligible NDIS SDA participants.

Architecturally designed, the ‘Hanke on Tram’ development provides 8 individual apartments across three levels. Bespoke self-contained apartments, that are fitted out with market leading design and assistive technology. The Hanke on Tram apartments are close to transport and amenities to promote connection with communities and foster independence.
‘Hanke on Tram’ will provide affordable custom designed bespoke accommodation for eight NDIS SDA participants with NDIS SDA design category High Physical Support funding to live in their own private spacious apartments built to LHG Platinum level compliance. All apartments offer spacious fully self-contained 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom with outdoor space / balconies, secure underground car parking and storage facilities. These apartments will be built in Doncaster a highly sought after Inner East suburb of Melbourne minutes from Westfield Shopping Town. We ensure that all our apartments are close to public transport and amenities to promote connection within the local community services and foster privacy and independence.
The introduction of the NDIS has seen a huge shift in the way people with disabilities receive funding and has emphasized the need for high quality, specialised accommodation. We’re proud to be part of such an important change in the lives of so many.
