A French Connection:
UWA Choral Society Celebrates the beauty of French Choral Music PERTH, WA — 23 August 2026
The UWA Choral Society invites audiences to experience the rich and evocative world of French choral music in its upcoming concert, A French Connection, to be presented at 3:00 pm on Sunday 23 August 2026 at St Mary’s Cathedral, Perth.
The concert showcases some of the finest works in the French choral repertoire, headlined by Maurice Duruflé’s sublime Requiem, a masterpiece renowned for its luminous harmonies, spiritual depth and profound emotional resonance. The program also features beloved choral works by Gabriel Fauré and Lili Boulanger, offering listeners a journey through the elegance, lyricism, and expressive power of French music.
Under the direction of acclaimed conductor, Chris van Tuinen, the performance will feature organist, Holly Broadbent, and special guests, the UWA Symphonic Chorus. The concert will also highlight performances by distinguished soloists: Caitlin Cassidy (mezzo-soprano), Kohsei Gilkes (tenor) and Devon Lake (bass).
Set within the magnificent background and acoustics of St Mary’s Cathedral, A French Connection promises an unforgettable afternoon for lovers of choral music and anyone seeking an inspiring musical experience.

The UWA Choral Society is one of the most long-established choirs in Australia, with 130 members dedicated to fine music.
Based at The University of Western Australia, the Perth-based amateur choir operates with a professional approach. Their mission is to study, practice and perform choral music on the University of Western Australia campus and at other venues.
Since their establishment in 1931, they have concentrated on performing significant classical works with professional conductors and musicians. UWA Choral Society supports local talent and enjoys collaborating with other musical groups.
