PRESS RELEASE: Abuse Survivors Demand “Line in the Sand” Action on Newly Released Epstein Files
BALLARAT, Victoria — Childhood sexual abuse survivors are calling on the Australian Government to take immediate, decisive action following the release of over three million documents from the “Epstein Files.” The group demands that the Australian Government finally prioritize the safety of children over the protection of the wealthy and influential.
As national attention turns to the global “Reckoning” of the Epstein network, survivors argue that Australia must no longer provide a safe haven to those linked to the late financier.
The group is making three core demands of the Albanese Government:
• Visa Bans: Deny entry to any individual with credible allegations of child abuse, or
those who maintained social or professional contact with Epstein after his 2008
conviction for sex offenses.
• AFP Investigation: Establish a dedicated Federal Police task force to investigate all
Australians named in the 2026 document release, with all findings made public.
• Full Disclosure: The public release of any intelligence, files, or correspondence held
by Australian government agencies regarding Jeffrey Epstein’s activities within
Australia.
“The Epstein files have traumatised survivors once again,” says Andrew Collins. “While we see arrests in the UK and resignations in the US and Norway, Australia remains silent. It is time to draw a line in the sand and say NO MORE.”
The call comes amid growing frustration over the “failed promises” of the 2013-2017 Royal Commission. Despite 408 recommendations, fewer than half have been fully enacted. No institution or person have faced sanctions or punishment for covering up child sexual abuse and protecting offenders. Institutions are still fighting victims and policing themselves.
In the past there have been many claims made about prominent Australians sexually abusing children. In 2015 former Liberal senator Bill Heffernan and survivor Fiona Barnett said that they had lists which named over 28 prominent people, including former prime ministers, as suspected paedophiles. To date no known investigations have been done, and no list of names released to the public. It is time to revisit these allegations and make the findings public.
“Victims are no better off today than they were a decade ago,” Collins stated. “Power, wealth, and prestige should not be barriers to justice in Australia. The time for secrets is over.”
