Affordable online training program launches to support Australia’s care workforce
Sydney-based Workplace Soft Skills has launched a new online training program aimed at addressing the professional development gap for Australia’s aged care and disability workers.
The Carers Course offers ten self-paced modules covering essential care competencies, available for $200 for the complete program or $22 per individual module. To mark its launch and the Sydney Care Expo, Workplace Soft Skills is offering a 50% discount, reducing the full program to $100 for a limited time.
Designed for care support workers, the program can be completed on mobile devices in modules of less than one hour each, making it ideal for people who cannot easily access traditional classroom learning.
“Many care workers have experience but are new to studying, or they completed their Certificate III years ago and want to refresh their knowledge. The Carers Course provides high-quality knowledge that can be completed quickly, to help workers apply best practice straight away.” said Rebecca Marshall, Head of Learning Design at Workplace Soft Skills.
“With Australia’s care sector facing a projected workforce shortfall of 110,000 by 2030, accessible professional development for existing workers is essential.”
The course covers communication strategies, diversity and inclusion, infection prevention and control, body systems knowledge, legal and ethical responsibilities, health and wellbeing principles, team communication, and person-centred support.
All modules are mapped to Certificate III in Individual Support and written in plain English to support culturally and linguistically diverse learners.
The program is accessible on any device and includes a certificate of completion.
Ms Marshall said care workers deserved ongoing professional development that respected both their expertise and their schedules.
“This program isn’t replacing formal qualifications, it’s supporting the skilled professionals doing essential work across Australia,” she said.
“Care work is professional work. These workers manage complex health and social needs every shift, often for modest pay. They deserve development opportunities that recognise their expertise without requiring them to sacrifice income or time with family.”
The program is available now to care workers and organisations across Australia.
