Meet Eamon Wyss
Eamon Wyss is a drone photographer with a passion for abstract visual storytelling. A lifelong disciplinary artist, he has developed a distinct creative style based on composition and colour theory, in which he purposefully frames unmanipulated photographs of natural landscapes from the air to emulate abstract paintings. His main inspiration comes from aboriginal dot paintings he encountered in the Australian desert as a boy, which use both topographical and symbolic communication of the landscape to tell a story.
World of drone photography
The exciting world of drone photography is an emerging new art form. Yet Eamon’s own distinct style continues to push the creative boundaries of what’s possible. With his fine art drone photography, he transforms natural landscapes into abstract imagery. He achieves this without manipulating the images from their original colour and form. Instead, Eamon pays meticulous attention to detail while composing his works from the air, seeking out what he describes as ‘contemporary dreaming stories’ that lay hidden in the landscape. In this way, his work first appears to the viewer as abstract paintings that play with our imagination. But as you step closer, the truth of the photographic moment is revealed.
“Eamon’s work draws us back to take in the abstract whole while seducing us to explore the natural details,” said Anthony Breslin, an international award-winning Australian artist. “In this way, Eamon’s work provides a unique interactive or theatrical experience for the viewer.”
Eamon’s solo exhibition
Eamon’s solo exhibition ‘Dreamscapes’ is a series of limited edition framed prints in the Aerie Gallery at Burrinja Cultural Centre, 351 Glenfern Rd, Upwey, 6 August – 10 September. Eamon will also hold an Artist Talk on the 20th of August at 11 am, telling the stories behind the artwork and how he got into ‘fine art drone photography’.
