PRESS RELEASE: APP BOOSTS PRODUCTIVITY DESPITE PANDEMIC

3D SAFETY APPLICATION HELPS LIMIT IMPACT ON AUSSIE WORKERS
For more than a year now, COVID-19 has dominated headlines in Australia and around the world. The global pandemic has caused many industries to reassess their safety protocols and models, and find new models for operating efficiently and effectively.
Making operations safer, easier to manage, and more productive is at the heart of what 3D Safety does. So when one Victorian business needed to maximise productivity during one of the country’s major outbreaks, they turned to the 3D Safety’s adaptable tech for an innovative approach to virus testing and contract tracing that significantly reduced lost hours and boosted productivity.
“We were working with a company that wanted to be able to test workers for COVID daily – because if someone gets sick, the impact to production is significant,” explains Simon Morrow, 3DSafety director.
Offering a truly tailored approach, every step of the testing and tracing process was collated into one simple – yet revolutionary – application.
“There are three different parties involved in the process of testing and management – the workers, the people administering the tests on-site, and the lab processing the test,” explains Simon. “3D Safety became the glue that linked the three components together. It took something that could’ve been a complicated process and turned it into an incredibly seamless one.”
As they entered the on-site testing area at the start of the day, workers were identified in the system with a simple scan of their ID card, which was linked to their test number once administered. The lab processed the tests, then uploaded the results into the 3D Safety framework against the corresponding test number as soon as they were available. “The automated backend would then send the worker an SMS delivering their results if they were negative,” says Simon. “If they tested positive for COVID-19, the results went through a different stream that involved counseling, as opposed to a text message.”
It sounds so simple – but it proved a game-changer for a company striving to maintain peak business outcomes at the height of the pandemic. “As an automated, integrated solution all the way through, workers could take the test at 10 am and, by 9 pm that night, they had peace of mind that they’d tested negative,” explains Simon. “That was significant, particularly given the size of this particular site, which had hundreds of workers to test each day.
“Daily, they were able to have a level of assurance that no-one on site had the virus. 3D Safety’s technology was the glue that enabled this process to happen seamlessly. And by doing away with spreadsheets and paper-based record-keeping, errors were also minimised.”
3D Safety’s adaptable capabilities also made potential contact tracing a breeze thanks to their “electronic footprints” – as workers used the app to scan into different parts of the site, they built a clear picture of where they’d been and who they’d had contact with over the course of the day, making it easy to quickly get in touch with any close contacts of someone returning a positive COVID-19 test.
“It was a really innovative solution, and while it’s not our main product, it’s a great reflection of our ability to adapt very quickly to a fluid situation and deliver outcomes that give companies insights into exactly what’s happening on-site,” shares Simon. “It shows the flexibility of the product – it’s an application that can be tailored in a lot of ways for various clients.”
Containing and reducing the impact of COVID outbreaks is just one example of how 3D Safety can adapt its technology to suit a business’ needs.
