PRESS RELEASE: Australian candle brand first to become RSPCA and Soi Dog Foundation Donor
The Australian luxury fragrance and candle brand Coco Louis is the first of it’s kind to become an official Soi Dog Foundation partner and RSPCA donor.
The fragrance brand is committed to ending suffering of animals all over the world, and especially in Asia. ” When I first found out about the animal cruelties that were happening particularly in Asia, I was absolutely disgusted and distraught. I, myself am a fur mum and cannot stand to see animals suffering. So I wanted to build a brand that could help me achieve the mission of ending their suffering” Esther Valamour Co – Founder
The brand’s name and logo itself is the name of the two mini schnauzers belonging to Esther.
“I never expected my brand to take off. I started it as a craft activity after I had my son and pretty much when Covid hit Australia, at the beginning of 2020. Honestly, it kept me sane, and during the times of when we weren’t in lockdown, I was actually contacted by a few stockists who wanted to sell the Brand, much to my surprise and joy. Unfortunately one of our major stockists on Chapel St in Melbourne is now closing down post the latest lockdown, which is unfortunate for both me and them”.
So what’s new ?
Recently Coco Louis Home & Fragrance has had a change in audience focus, to an upmarket audience. Their candles are not mass produced like a lot of other bigger brands, each candle is hand poured and each product is well thought out. The fragrances are hand blended by Esther herself, who has a nose for creating fine fragrances that are not sold anywhere else – for instance the ‘Fire in the woods candle’, or the ‘Forest Falls Hike’ (with notes that would take you directly into a pine & earthy forest) – a candle that’s been described as ‘the best scented candle ever’ by the stockist Mariana Samos herself (owner of Maison Mai on Chapel St) “We don’t price compete like most other candle and fragrance brands, that is not our motto, we are building a strong brand which has it’s own character and values, much like a real person. The value goes far deeper than the product. It’s what you buy into at the end of the day. You don’t say “I won’t buy a Gucci bag cause I can get one from Kmart. In any case we are not as pricy as Gucci but it goes to show the value is in the brand and in how it makes you feel.” says Esther
Direction
“We aim to make our brand the ‘Jo Malone’ of Australia, yet we are unlike any other. We are dog and animal oriented, and we have such strong values in what we do and our cause and mission provide a strong drive for what we do.
By we, I mean, my dogs, my baby son (he’s just turned 2) and my partner. We are your small family business in the suburbs and we are not ashamed of that. It doesn’t determine the direction of the brand or what it stands. One day it might just be sold at Selfridges, but until then we shall serve the good Aussie community of fine fragrance lovers who also love animals”
