Australian Light Horse Troop Climb Mountain Top for Anzac Music Video Film Shoot.

25th February 2023 – Christmas Creek, Lamington National Park, QLD. Members of The Australian Light Horse Association will be involved in an epic mountainside film shoot as part of a war memorial Music Video Directed by Elijah Cavangh (Cavanagh Films).
Family band Haystack Mountain Hermits released The Horses Stay Behind (One Last Ride) to great acclaim and have performed it at the Currumbin RSL Dawn Service. The song was recently awarded Exceptional Merit in the Australian Songwriters Association Awards. The Song brilliantly captures the story of a soldier and his profound relationship with his war horse, only to be told at the end of the war that he must leave his horse behind.

This Music Video for this song is supported by Peak Australian National bodies, inc. Arts Qld (RADF Grant), Tamborine Mountain RSL sub-branch, Australian Light Horse Association, Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation, General Sir Harry Chauvel Memorial Foundation and the Australian Waler Horse Society, historian Dr Jonathon King, OAM plus many individual financial donors through the projects website.

The music video follows the Light Horse Troop as they journey up a mountain track to the glorious peak where they gather around a stage to watch the Haystack Mountain Hermits perform the song. Over 2500 handmade purple poppies, representing the horses, have been collected from individuals around Australia to feature in the video. As an extension to the song this film will explore the intimate relationship between a soldier and their horse.

The project has been in research and development phase for over 2 years as Elijah Cavanagh (Cavanagh Films) and Kerrie Gambly (Haystack Mountain Hermits) produced inspirational content for a website they built called One Last Ride in efforts to get the community and key associations backing the project. (www.onelastride.com.au)

“When this project came my way I knew we needed those that live and breathe this soldier/horse relationship to come on board, together we could achieve the vast scale and depth of story that this project is calling for, now that we have achieved that we are ready to film,” said Film Director Elijah Cavanagh.

This war memorial music video will be completed in preparation for Anzac Day 2023 the team trust it will be a significant part of the ceremonial remembrance Australia wide and will also be a special tribute to our unsung four-legged heroes, those horses left behind in World War One.
