[Subiaco, WA, November 6th] — A Subiaco Icon will soon bid farewell. The iconic scarlet woman of Circles of Subiaco Hairdressers will soon be missing from Subiaco for the first time in over 20 years. Currently undergoing a massive renovation project in partnership with State of Kin, owner Sharlene Lee believes the time is right for an image change and is looking forward to revealing the iconic salon’s new look in the coming weeks.

When Circles first relocated to a new premises at 17 Railway Road in 1997 Sharlene quickly began to grapple with the problem of graffiti tags popping up all over the heritage listed building. It was then in 1998 when she enlisted the help of artist AJ Tan to transform the building’s façade with a beautiful mural featuring the iconic scarlet woman that changed the face of Subiaco.

When the salon moved yet again in 2008 to its current location at 513 Hay Street the scarlet woman also took a walk, adorning yet another mural within the salon’s new premises. Now almost 23 years on Sharlene believes its time for an image change, not only for the Salon but for also for Subiaco. “We have undergone so many changes in the last two decades and our scarlet woman has been with us through all of the ups and downs, we will miss her presence but are also so excited for what the future holds both for the salon and for Subi” explained Sharlene.
