DOCTO – Australia’s online hospital – announced today that 100 medical specialists are available for consultations. The number of specialists providing services on the platform has grown from 40 to 100 in recent months, due to increased demand from patients and GPs for DOCTO’s Medical Specialist Telehealth service.
Founded in 2015 by Dr Jonathan Field, Dr Tim Harraway and Dr Andrew Jones, DOCTO uses a custom-built, secure, encrypted platform, to give patients rapid access to a medical specialist. Consultations in the online emergency department are instant, and specialist telehealth consultations take place within 7 working days. Referrals are reviewed by DOCTO’s specialist team to ensure every patient is connected to the right doctor, based on expertise, geography and availability. The DOCTO team supports referring GPs and patients throughout the process, and carefully coordinates records, e-prescriptions and follow up.
Dr Field said: “The response by doctors has been amazing. By working within the medical community, DOCTO successfully integrates telehealth with regular healthcare. GPs can upload referrals and our team reacts immediately. The whole process is focused on improving health outcomes for patients.”

Since 2015, over 100 doctors and nearly 20,000 patients have joined the platform. DOCTO has been recognized by the Queensland government which provided it with an Ignite Ideas grant to expand its services across rural and regional Queensland.
