Making the 2024 Avon Descent weekend better than ever:

– Rising Water Levels: Recent rainfall has contributed to rising water levels at key sites such as Walyunga and Northam, promising an exhilarating race for racers and spectators alike. “With the recent rains, community excitement has grown substantially,” says Greg Kaeding, Chair of Northam’s Avon Descent Association.
– Avon Challenge Events: Alongside the classic 124 km race, the new Day 2 Avon Challenge events offer shorter courses (with a choice of 50km on day 1, and 10 km, 14 km and 29 km races on day 2) perfect for novices, intermediates and pros alike. “We’re beyond excited to provide new opportunities for taking part in the Avon Descent experience for all those with an interest in getting on the river,” says Greg Kaeding, Chair
– Continued Investment in Safety and Wellbeing: Thanks to substantial financial support from the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, along with the dedicated support from the many community sponsors and dedicated volunteers, investment in modern event and safety equipment ensures a smooth, safe and unforgettable experience for all.
