PRESS RELEASE: Brisbane City Council are proudly sponsoring Australia Independent Film Festival to celebrate Independent Cinema in 2025.

Brisbane, Australia – Australia Independent Film Festival (AIFF) are proud to introduce Brisbane City Council as a Major Event Sponsor for the festival in 2025.
The festival will take place from 31 October to 1 November at Palace Cinemas, James Street.
Council’s support aligns with AIFF’s commitment to celebrating creativity, promoting diverse perspectives, and highlighting independent filmmaking from around the world, while creating opportunities for Queensland’s screen industry to gain international exposure.
“As Australia’s lifestyle capital, Brisbane values creativity, innovation and cultural diversity,” said Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner.
“Supporting events like the Australia Independent Film Festival help create more to see and do for residents, while growing our city’s reputation as a creative hub.
“We’re excited to welcome filmmakers and audiences from near and far to experience the best of Brisbane even after the credits roll.”
Now in its 8th year, AIFF is Brisbane’s internationally recognized celebration of independent cinema, attracting short films, documentaries, and animations from across the globe. The 2025 program is set to be the most diverse and exciting yet, further enriching Brisbane’s cultural scene.
Festival Director Jeremy Rigby welcomed the support, saying:
“We are incredibly honored to have Brisbane City Council as a Major Sponsor. Their dedication to fostering creativity and supporting screen talent aligns perfectly with our mission. Together, we can elevate the festival experience for both filmmakers and film lovers.”
Council’s support will help expand industry engagement, enhance festival programming, and reinforce Brisbane’s position as a premier destination for film and the creative arts.
