Charity-Driven NFT Project Raises
$50,000+ AUD for Wildlife Conservation

Cheeky Unts is a collection of Australian animal-inspired animated NFTs living on
the Cardano blockchain, benefitting Australian wildlife charities.
MELBOURNE, VIC, November 6, 2021 – “Cheeky Unts” has donated $50,000 AUD to Australian wildlife conservation after successfully launching on the Cardano blockchain in October 2021. The Adelaide Koala & Wildlife Centre and the Wombat Awareness Organisation are the two beneficiaries of the donation, each receiving $25,000 AUD.

The Australian project, an extension of the boutique 3D CGI studio “Bitgem”, sold out its
collection of 4,444 animated NFTs and has since been fostering a community united by a
shared passion for making Australia a better place. In addition to these donations, Cheeky
Unts adopted two koalas before its launch, and just last week donated $2,500 AUD to
Wildlife Warriors as a result of a Steve Irwin Day fundraiser. The project aims to donate
another $50,000 AUD in the new year once it launches its next round of NFTs.

“We’re so grateful for the incredible support we’ve seen from our community of over 3,000
members that have allowed us to make these donations” said Jason Ellis, Founder of Bitgem
and Cheeky Unts. “We see blockchain technology as a tremendous opportunity to build
decentralized applications that can benefit non-profit organizations. We want to show the
world there’s more to the NFT space than profit, and we believe Cheeky Unts is doing just
that.”

After converting from Cardano’s native currency, ADA, Cheeky Unts presented each
organization with a cheque in early November. “This is a huge deal for us,” said Joanne
Sloan, Operations Manager for Adelaide Koala & Wildlife Hospital. “We struggle for financial support, so this does make a difference. This is our first time working with a donor
in the cryptocurrency and NFT space, so we were cautiously optimistic at first. However,
when the donation arrived in our bank account, our founder nearly fell off of his chair!” It
cost over $200,000 AUD to maintain the Adelaide Koala & Wildlife Centre in 2019.
