PRESS RELEASE: CoffeeSnobs awarded Australia’s best roaster, again.

Port Macquarie, NSW, December 10, 2021 — The Golden Bean, Australia’s biggest coffee roasting competition has just been won by CoffeeSnobs an Internet based, small family business located in Geelong Victoria.
The Golden Bean competition is run annually in Australia and receives more than 1000 entries from 100’s of roasters all over the country. The overall winner is the roaster with the highest scores in Espresso, Cafe Latte and Filter Coffee categories and the competition is fierce for this prestigious award.
CoffeeSnobs is no stranger to competition success, the first Golden Bean Overall Champion was awarded in 2016, followed by a repeat in 2018 and now a record setting third time in 2021.
When asked the secret to CoffeeSnobs continuing success Andy Freeman said “sourcing great product from farmers that care and giving the beans the respect they deserve, you also have to taste a lot of coffee roasted and brewed in different ways to find the real gems, that’s the fun part of the business”.
The winning bean this year was the Ethiopia Shakisso, a dry processed bean which is foraged for in naturally growing bush land unlike many large commercial coffees which are grown in rows of cleared farmland. “There’s something special in the flavours you can get from old growth, natural forest sourced beans and the dry processing leaves more of the sweetness and character from the coffee fruit” said Andy Freeman.
CoffeeSnobs has been fresh roasting and distributing green coffee to other roasters via the Internet for the last 16 years to every corner of Australia. The range of coffees available are extensive and seasonal depending on which part of the world the beans come from and sampling coffees from different origins is always an eye-opener. Roaster Andy Freeman said, “all our coffee is fresh roasted to order twice a week and freighted out fast so our customers can enjoy the freshest coffee possible including the multi award winning Ethiopia Shakisso.”
